Swimming - The best stress reliever

Learn swimming and relieve stress at the same time

As an avid swimmer and a high school student, I constantly get asked how I stay calm amid all the stress I am going through - may it be SAT prep stress, getting admission into a good College stress, performing well in swim meets, doing well in school and keeping up my GPA or finding time to have fun! My answer is: Good question! All jokes aside, basically everyone has an innate fear of stress infiltrating and consuming our lives. Stress, unfortunately, creeps into all our lives, no matter who we are or what we do.

Swimming is one of the main ways I deal with stress, and I think it’s a super useful tool to relieve any pressure or tension you might be feeling in your life. Now, I know you might be saying, “Easy for you to say Prisha! You swim competitively and do it for the competition aspect of it.” While that may be partially true, swimming has been proven to help people of all ages and levels to release stress and feelings of anxiety or depression. Swimming also releases endorphins. Endorphins are natural, feel good hormones that lead us to experience a sense of happiness and wellbeing.

If you are interested in learning more about how swimming can be utilized by all ages to manage stress, come and join our free weekly mindfulness classes! This is a new class we are adding this coming summer and I have a feeling will help a lot of us. We hope to see you all there!

Having equal opportunities is a right not a privilege.

Last year was eventful in so many ways. The world was dealing with Pandemic and every family was contributing towards curbing the spread by staying at home. Each person was playing a critical role in our fight towards Covid 19 and its variants. For me personally, being an extrovert and being active in swimming and outdoor activities, Pandemic brought in loneliness and I was balancing between being sane and getting depressed. While speaking with my family on how to get over the sad feelings, I proposed the idea of teaching swimming to kids in our backyard pool. My parents were very supportive of it and that was the genesis of Oasis Swim School. Why the name 'Oasis'? Because my backyard feels like one and make me feel I am in an Oasis. Having been learning swimming since I was 5, it was my dream to teach the same to other kids. Summer of 2021 was a huge success. I saw overwhelming response from towns like Livingston, Summit, Chatham any other neighboring towns. I am now building on top of this success and offering expanded services this coming summer. Additionally I am looking to hire 2 high school life guard certified swimmers who can join Oasis Swim School and help teach kids swimming. If you are interested, please reach out to me directly along with some details on your back ground. We are currently scheduling lessons for this Summer so please feel free to call and setup your lessons. Happy Swimming! -Prisha Bhargava
