A Tribute to Swim Parents: The Unsung Heroes Behind Every Confident Swimmer

At Oasis Swim School, we spend every day teaching children to float, kick, breathe, and swim with confidence. We celebrate their milestones—from putting their face in the water for the first time to swimming their first full lap. But behind every young swimmer is someone who quietly makes it all possible: their parents.

This post is dedicated to you—our swim moms, dads, guardians, grandparents, and caregivers—who play a vital role in every splash, stroke, and smile we see in the pool.

You Make the Effort, Rain or Shine

You adjust your schedules, leave work early, navigate traffic, and sometimes battle the weather just to get your child to swim class on time. You pack towels, goggles, dry clothes, and snacks. You wait patiently—on benches, in cars, beside the pool—watching, encouraging, and cheering your little swimmer on.

You may not get wet, but you’re just as much a part of the journey as the kids in the water.

You Understand the Why

You know that swimming is more than just a sport—it’s a life skill. You understand the importance of water safety, and you’re willing to invest your time and energy because you know the confidence your child builds in the pool spills over into other parts of life. You teach consistency by showing up. You teach courage by encouraging your child to keep trying, even when it’s hard.

You Celebrate Every Milestone

You cheer for the little things: a fearless jump into the pool, a few seconds of floating, the first successful freestyle stroke. You encourage through tough days when progress feels slow. And when your child finally passes a level, earns a ribbon, or swims across the pool, your pride shines brighter than anyone’s.

You Inspire Us

Your commitment inspires us as instructors. We see the love, patience, and dedication it takes to be present, week after week. It reminds us why we do what we do—because behind every strong swimmer is a family that believes in them.

Thank You

To all the swim parents: thank you for showing up, for believing in your child’s potential, and for trusting us to be part of their learning journey. We see your effort. We appreciate your commitment. And we’re grateful for the role you play in shaping not just swimmers—but strong, confident individuals.

From all of us at Oasis Swim School, thank you for being our partners in the pool—and beyond.

Learn swimming and relieve stress at the same time

Last year was eventful in so many ways. The world was dealing with Pandemic and every family was contributing towards curbing the spread by staying at home. Each person was playing a critical role in our fight towards Covid 19 and its variants. For me personally, being an extrovert and being active in swimming and outdoor activities, Pandemic brought in loneliness and I was balancing between being sane and getting depressed. While speaking with my family on how to get over the sad feelings, I proposed the idea of teaching swimming to kids in our backyard pool. My parents were very supportive of it and that was the genesis of Oasis Swim School. Why the name 'Oasis'? Because my backyard feels like one and make me feel I am in an Oasis. Having been learning swimming since I was 5, it was my dream to teach the same to other kids. Summer of 2021 was a huge success. I saw overwhelming response from towns like Livingston, Summit, Chatham any other neighboring towns. I am now building on top of this success and offering expanded services this coming summer. Additionally I am looking to hire 2 high school life guard certified swimmers who can join Oasis Swim School and help teach kids swimming. If you are interested, please reach out to me directly along with some details on your back ground. We are currently scheduling lessons for this Summer so please feel free to call and setup your lessons. Happy Swimming! -Prisha Bhargava
